What is LASIK?

What is LASIK? How does it help a person correct his/her vision? What are the basic defects that can be treated by the LASIK surgery?? Let’s search answers to some of these here:

  • LASIK stands for LAser In Situ Keratomileusis. LASIK is more or less used as an acronym for it.
  • In simplest of words, it is an advanced laser procedure which involves a surgical operation. In the surgical operation, a tiny flap is cut in the top of the cornea. The flap is then lifted so that a laser beam can remove the internal tissue from the inside of cornea, thereby correcting the vision defects.
  • By removing the tissue it helps correct various vision defects, such as glasses, contact lenses or higher degrees of myopia. As this procedure requires less time as well as pain for a patient to recovery fully, it is widely gaining popularity, for vision corrections.

At Selkin Laser Center, our doctors perform all types of LASIK surgical operations with minimum of fuss.
